For Skills Assignment 5- Video, I created a video to summarize the vacation I took with my son this summer. I hope you enjoy it.

As I finish my first course for this program, I breathe a sigh of relief. One down, and, too many to count to go. I have enjoyed the content and learning experiences in 21st Century Teaching & Learning. I learned about technology and web-based resources for the classroom and online-learning. I also enjoyed practicing identifying the 16 engaged learning indicators and assigning LoTi levels based on technology enrichment, collaboration, and higher-order thinking skills. The peer coaching opportunities were helpful practice for engaging in productive coaching collaboration. I believe the textbook Integrating Educational Technology into Teaching will prove to be a valuable resource as I assist others with improving their pedagogy and instruction.
As I began this journey, I am reserved about becoming a full-time technology coach. I have been the department's technology go-to for a few years already, and I enjoy helping my peer teachers when they ask for ideas. However, I love working with students, challenging them daily, and watching them grow into young adults over the course of the year. I accept that I don't know what the future holds, and perhaps I would enjoy being a technology coach just as much. We shall see what the future holds. I believe that today's classrooms are not yet mindful of the true benefits of technology integration. For example, before this program/course, I was not aware of the ISTE standards for students & teachers. I have 5 years of experience teaching, and I felt that technology integration meant using technology to engage students in learning or assessments, whether it be an online game or review, or a project using tools. This course opened my eyes to a deeper understanding of different strategies for integration. Students need to be able to embrace technology in the classroom for learning experiences, and classrooms need to step up their 21st century applications. Technology is the key to making this happen. My hopes are to share the information I have gained, promote technology standards, and encourage technology integration with deeper meaning. |
