About Ms. Stapleton My name is Brandy Stapleton, and I am excited to begin my Master's Degree program in Instructional Technology at Kennesaw State University. I began the program Summer 2019 and will graduate Summer 2021. I graduated in 2013 from Grand Canyon University, earning my Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education through an online/virtual program. I have taught secondary mathematics at Gainesville High School since Fall 2014. I love teaching, math and science, technology, and helping others. That's why I am here. I want to help my students succeed, and that means I need to be adaptive to 21st century skills and technology applications. My goal is to be the best that I can be, and to encourage my students and peer teachers to do the same. I believe that I would someday enjoy a position as an instructional coach or technology integration specialist, but currently, I love my job in the classroom.
This portfolio allows me to demonstrate mastery of the PSC Instructional Technology standards and the ISTE Coaching standards. There are several links above the KSU logo that navigate to a collection of my experiences and progress at KSU. For example, under the "standards" link, I have organized artifacts and reflections documenting the important work I have completed during this program. Each artifact represents mastery of the standard under which it is represented. |
Teaching Math
A more Personal Me... |
My favorite courses to teach are Geometry & Advanced Mathematical Decision Making (AMDM- Senior Math), but I have also taught Foundations of Algebra, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2. My favorite technology applications include Quizizz and Google Classroom, both of which I integrate weekly, if not daily. I am a project-oriented teacher; if there is a project, performance task, or alternative practice or assessment, I will use it. I believe that engaging student activities are imperative to true learning and that differentiation supports the process. I am also well-known for having 4+ versions of each test and quiz (and sometimes daily practices, too). By the end of the semester, my students work diligently on their own assignments because they realize that cheating is just as difficult as learning (which I am very proud of!).
I live in Homer, in Banks County, Georgia with my "hunny" and our son, Hunter. Hunter is twelve, and going to 7th grade this year- he loves riding dirt-bikes and four-wheelers, playing in the pool, and sports. I like getting outside- camping and fishing, taking photos, creating art, cake decorating, and just spending time with my family.
